Clear Rules for Tampa Bay Gig-Driver Rentals

These policies summarize important terms for MyTampaCars weekly vehicle rentals. MyTampaCars.com is a division of FL Investment Holdings Group LLC. The signed rental agreement and any signed addenda control if this website summary differs.

This program is only for qualified, active gig workers. It is not a personal-use or ordinary daily-driver rental program.

Weekly Pricing and Minimum Terms

The available plan, assigned vehicle and final weekly price depend on current inventory and driver approval. Insurance is not included. A security deposit, 7% tax, tolls and other agreement charges may apply. Applying does not guarantee approval or reserve a vehicle.

Who May Rent

• The renter must be an active, approved driver or shopper on Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Amazon Flex, Instacart, Spark or another MyTampaCars-approved gig platform.
• The renter must present a valid, unexpired driver license and meet Company, insurer, vehicle and platform eligibility rules.
• Only the renter may drive unless a co-driver is approved in writing before operating the vehicle.
• The vehicle may be used only for approved gig work and authorized use stated in the signed agreement.

Tampa Bay Service Area

Approved operation is limited to Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk counties, including Tampa, Brandon, Riverview, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Largo, Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs, New Port Richey, Wesley Chapel and Lakeland. Prior written permission is required for travel outside the approved area. The vehicle may not leave Florida without written authorization.

Insurance and Financial Responsibility

• Insurance is not included in the advertised weekly rental price unless a signed addendum expressly states otherwise.
• The renter must provide and maintain acceptable coverage for the vehicle and approved gig use.
• Coverage, if arranged through MyTampaCars, is subject to the actual policy limits, exclusions and deductible.
• The renter may remain responsible for deductibles, uncovered losses, towing, storage, diminished value, loss of use and other amounts allowed by the agreement and law.

Security Deposit and Payments

The required security deposit may vary by vehicle and rental circumstances. A valid credit card must remain securely on file with our authorized payment processor throughout the rental period, or the full rental balance must be paid upfront in cash before the vehicle is released. The security deposit may be applied to unpaid rent, fees, fines, citations, uncovered damage, excessive cleaning or recovery costs. Any remaining balance is returned by the original payment method within 15 business days after the vehicle is returned and inspected, with an itemized statement of deductions. A $35 fee applies to each returned or declined payment.

Fuel, Tolls and Citations

• Return the vehicle with at least the pickup fuel level. A shortfall is charged at actual fuel cost plus a $35 refueling service fee.
• Use your own active, funded SunPass, E-PASS or Uni transponder attached to the vehicle.
• A toll-by-plate notice or toll violation is charged at the actual toll plus a $35 processing fee per notice.
• Parking tickets, camera citations, moving violations and other fines remain the renter’s responsibility, plus a $35 processing fee per notice.

Vehicle Monitoring and Care

Vehicles may use GPS, telematics and starter-disable technology for legitimate rental-business purposes such as locating the vehicle, confirming the approved operating area, diagnosing condition and supporting lawful recovery after non-return, theft or default. Starter-disable technology will not be activated while a vehicle is moving. Tampering with monitoring equipment is a material breach and may result in a $500 fee plus nonduplicative documented repair or replacement costs.

Stop driving as soon as safely possible if a warning light, overheating, smoke, leak, unusual noise, loss of power or another mechanical warning appears. Contact MyTampaCars before continuing. Routine scheduled maintenance is handled by MyTampaCars; renters must follow reporting and vehicle-care requirements.

Accidents and Incidents

Report any accident, damage, theft, vandalism or other incident to MyTampaCars immediately and no later than 24 hours. Follow applicable law, call 911 for injuries or when legally required, obtain a police report or report number when appropriate, photograph the scene and damage, and exchange information with other involved parties.

Prohibited Uses

• Unauthorized drivers, subletting or re-renting
• Personal-only or ordinary daily-driver use
• Racing, reckless driving, towing, pushing or off-road operation
• Transporting contraband or using the vehicle for an unlawful purpose
• Operating outside the approved area without written permission
• Continuing to drive after a serious warning sign appears

Extraordinary, documented third-party remediation, repair, towing, storage or recovery costs may apply when allowed by the agreement, but charges should not duplicate the same loss. The signed agreement contains the complete terms.

Late Returns and Extensions

Return the vehicle by the scheduled date and time. Extensions must be approved in writing. Without an approved extension, each calendar day or partial day may be charged the daily rental amount stated in the agreement plus a $100 late-return administrative fee.
